Our Manifest

The city is not merely a collection of buildings, infrastructures, squares and planning decisions. It is a layered field of memory, encounters, conflicts, shared experiences and collective projections of the future. To work on the city, therefore, is not only to transform the physical environment, but also to construct new possibilities for public life, cultural continuity and spatial experience.

CITUDIO is an independent collective founded by faculty members and creative practitioners working in architecture, art and design. It emerges from the desire to establish a platform that can think beyond institutional boundaries and bring research, critique, experimentation and design production into a shared framework. This platform aims to generate new questions about the city, develop alternative scenarios and produce creative ideas that can contribute to public life.

For CITUDIO, the city is not merely a set of problems waiting to be solved. It is a living organism to be investigated, a cultural text to be interpreted and a shared environment to be reimagined. Streets, thresholds, coastlines, voids, residual spaces, squares, everyday practices and social relations all become core sources for design inquiry. From this perspective, design is understood not only as form-making, but as the production of meaning, context and public relevance.

CITUDIO does not adopt a model based on the myth of individual genius. Instead, it values collective intelligence nourished by interdisciplinary encounters. Different perspectives, scales and methodologies generate the creative force of the collective. Architecture is approached not merely as the practice of building design, but as a field that intersects with art, culture, urban politics, public needs and experimental forms of representation.

The collective operates across several key domains: architecture biennials, design competitions, conceptual spatial proposals, public space strategies, idea projects for municipalities and urban-oriented research initiatives. These productions are not assessed only through feasibility, but also through intellectual depth, representational strength, critical framing and cultural contribution.

CITUDIO sees design not simply as an outcome, but as a way of asking questions. For this reason, every project is treated less as a fixed solution and more as a creative intervention that offers a new perspective. The collective actively develops frameworks for reinterpreting urban voids, representing local identity through contemporary tools, rethinking public space in relation to inclusivity, and producing original vision projects for municipalities.

The approach of CITUDIO is built upon three main axes: research, design, and public impact.

Research forms the theoretical and contextual foundation of every project. Design becomes the creative instrument through which this framework takes visible form.

Public impact defines the social relevance and cultural value of the work produced. For this reason, CITUDIO is not simply a design group developing projects. It is an independent production platform that generates ideas about the city, uses design as a critical tool, builds connections between the local and the global, and opens up new possibilities for the public future.

For CITUDIO, design is as much an ethical matter as it is an aesthetic one. Space is never merely formal; it is also social, cultural and political. Therefore, the collective values context, pays attention to the memory of place, places users at the center, and seeks to reveal the cultural texture of the city through creative means. CITUDIO is the collective name for rethinking the city, producing together, and transforming design into a public proposition.
